The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) recently convened the second LIFE-AR National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting. The primary objective was to review and approve the LIFE-AR Board Paper, which was scheduled for submission to the LIFE-AR Board in July. This Board paper is a pivotal step towards transitioning to the test and evolve phase of LIFE-AR, encompassing the investment phase, work plan, and budget. These elements are essential for guiding the next phase, which focuses on investing in climate action and innovations aligned with community and national priorities.

In his opening statement, the Permanent Secretary of MECCNAR, Mr. Ebrima Jawara, emphasized the necessity for institutional leaders to actively participate in these meetings and instill a sense of urgency and importance within their teams to ensure the successful implementation of the LIFE-AR initiative in The Gambia. He urged members to champion LIFE-AR within their spheres of influence, fostering a collective effort that acknowledges the urgency of our climate challenges and the transformative potential of this initiative.

The National Steering Committee, as the highest decision-making body for LIFE-AR in the country, is primarily responsible for ensuring the realization of the LDC vision through the effective implementation of LIFE-AR and its principles. Additionally, the NSC approves all LIFE-AR activity plans and documents, playing a crucial role in guiding the initiative's progress.
