The Department of Forestry in partnership with the Large Scale Ecosystem-Based Adaptation Project and Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) organized the Third Edition of the National Forestry Trade Fair which is currently held from 10 to 12 April 2021.
The Trade Fair is organized to enhanced the livelihoods of various farmers and community forest members to showcase forest products to create markets and increase the income of rural communities.
The event was attended by various farmers and community forest members across all the regions which include CRR, URR LRR, and WCR region who are keenly involved in forest products values chain e.g food processors.
A Business to Business Meeting was held ahead of the Trade Fair Mr. Cherno Gaye the Head of Participatory Forestry Management at the Dept of Forestry, urged the delegates to venture into community forest management, he advised various beekeeping associations to form an apex body, not having an apex body organization creates division and lack of proper coordination. Plans are underway on how to restructure the organization.
