The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) recently convened the inaugural meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the Capacity-Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) Project.
The meeting focused on reviewing and approving the project’s implementation work plan, the PSC’s Terms of Reference, and Appraisal of Institutional Capacity Needs. Project Coordinator, Mr. Sambou Kinteh, led the committee through the presentations, which were subsequently endorsed by members.
The PSC was also briefed on project activities implemented, with technical and financial support provided by Conservation International (CI).
The PSC provides a vital platform for key stakeholders to discuss strategic directions, exchange insights, and collaborate in advancing the objectives of the CBIT Project.
The CBIT Project is an initiative aimed at enhancing transparency in climate change reporting and management. It focuses on building the capacity of countries to meet their obligations under the Paris Agreement and to improve their national reporting systems.
The project seeks to strengthen institutional frameworks, enhance stakeholder engagement, and promote the use of innovative technologies for data collection and analysis.
