PROJECT COMPONENTS:

  1.  Strengthening policy and institutional capacity for sustainable dryland forest management
  2.  Community - base sustainable dryland forest management and rehabilitation, project monitoring, evaluation and information dissemination

PROJECT MAIN OBJECTIVE:
To reduce forest degradation in the northern part of The Gambia through the strengthening and expansion of community-forest and implementation of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM)
 
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

  1.  Institutions at national level have the capacity to integrate dryland forest management into policies, sectorial planning and practices
  2. Community forest legal ownership strengthened ..Joint forest management - 18 agreements...transfer of forest ownership to local communities (at least 28 gazettes)
  3. About 15,000 ha of dryland forest are sustainably managed by local communities (successful application of 18 JFPM plans and 73 management plans
  4. Result base management and application of project findings and lessons learned facilitated.
