PROJECT COMPONENTS:

PROJECT MAIN OBJECTIVE:
To reduce forest degradation in the northern part of The Gambia through the strengthening and expansion of community-forest and implementation of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM)
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
- Institutions at national level have the capacity to integrate dryland forest management into policies, sectorial planning and practices
- Community forest legal ownership strengthened ..Joint forest management - 18 agreements...transfer of forest ownership to local communities (at least 28 gazettes)
- About 15,000 ha of dryland forest are sustainably managed by local communities (successful application of 18 JFPM plans and 73 management plans
- Result base management and application of project findings and lessons learned facilitated.
