25 Participants are selected from the EbA Project, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Natural Resources, Department of Forestry, Department of Community Development, Department of Parks and Wildlife Management and Department of Agriculture to participate in the training. The aim of the training is to familiarize the participants/end-users with the contents of the EbA Information Platform and to enable them to operate and use the platform. The training delved into why the platform is needed and how to use it for efficiency and effectiveness of project progress monitoring. The training will also include 2 days of field data collection on Key Performance Indicators and sub-indicators in LRR and 1-day general consultation on the platform from a practical user perspective.

Statement of Hon.Minister Lamin B. Dibba

I am deeply honored to receive and welcome you all to this important meeting to inaugurate the Large-scale Ecosystem-based Adaptation Project in The Gambia. This project is the single largest natural resource development project ever launched in the history of the development of this country and funded by the GCF.

The Ministry of Environment Climate and Natural Resources is the implementing partner for the project entitled “Building the Gambia’s capacities and resilience to Climate Change related Disasters, Natural Resources Management, environmental protection and enhanced livelihoods”.

The Ministry of Environment Climate Change and Natural Resources embarked on a joint country wide tour with FAO from 23^rd - 26^th  April 2018. The tour, which is a periodic activity of the Ministry, was aimed at obtaining first-hand information of the projects and programs of the Ministry. It was also aimed at sensitizing the local authorities on the new forest legislation (Forest Act 2018) and the Forest Policy.

The Hon. Lamin B. Dibba and FAO Resident Rep were accompanied by the staff of both the Ministry and her line departments/ Agency and FAO.

The Memorandum of Agreement

The signing ceremony meeting of the Memorandum of Agreement took place on the 24^th July 2018 at the offices of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources. This MoA was signed between the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management (DPWM) and the Abuko Tourism Company (ATC) Gambia Limited for a private investment and management of the Abuko Nature Reserve.

First of all, I would like to welcome you all to this short yet auspicious event, the laying of the foundation stone of our office complex here in Abuko, which formally commences the construction works of the new Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources complex, envisioned not only to house the Ministry but also our line departments: the Department of Forestry and the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management.
